I should have bought more 2017 La Fruit Defendu Rose as it may have been hands down the very best Rose of 2017 I have tasted. So when the 2016 Red and 2017 Rose were offered I snapped up three of each. Branded as Le Fruit Defendu, these wines drink much sooner, and are what are often what you find in cafes and bistros that dot the French countryside.Ī few after finding the Magellan wines on the east coast the Le Fruit Defendu wines started to show up on our shores in both red and pink. ![]() In addition to his premium level reds and whites, Lafon started to make a second line of wines that are made from younger plantings of old vines cultivated from Chateauneuf du Pape on his sandstone vineyards. About the time the 2011 vintage wines were showing up I started to buy Lafon's Magellan whites and reds, and my friends all enjoyed them with me.
